Sioux Falls, SD – August 14, 2025 – TAKKION, a national leader in renewable energy services, proudly partnered with the South Dakota Renewable Energy Association (SoDak Renewables) to host the 7th annual Golf & Shoot event. The gathering brought together industry leaders and community partners to highlight the critical importance of workforce development, the continued expansion of renewable energy, and meaningful support for veterans.
Through the generosity of sponsors and partners, the event raised $22,500 to benefit local organizations—further reinforcing TAKKION’s commitment to building strong communities and advancing the renewable energy workforce.
Beneficiaries include:
- Lake Area Technical College (LATC) – Energy Technology program with a focus on green technologies
- Mitchell Technical College (MTC) – Wind Turbine Technology program support
- South Dakota Renewable Energy Association (SoDak Renewables) – Advancing renewable energy development across the state
- Warriors Never Give Up – A nonprofit supporting veterans through outdoor experiences
Investing in Workforce Development
The proceeds will directly support renewable energy programs at LATC and MTC, providing students with hands-on training and access to industry-leading resources. This investment helps secure a pipeline of skilled workers ready to power the future of clean energy.
“Developing and sustaining a highly skilled workforce is essential to the continued advancement of renewable energy,” said Pete Bierden, President of TAKKION. “We are proud to support technical colleges, champion the growth of renewable energy, and partner with veteran organizations whose impact strengthens both our industry and the communities we serve.”
Supporting Veterans & Expanding Renewables
In addition to education, funds will support SoDak Renewable’s mission to expand renewable energy opportunities across South Dakota and benefit Warriors Never Give Up, which provides healing and connection for veterans through outdoor activities.
A Successful Industry Event
The event drew hundreds of attendees from across the country and featured a golf tournament at Elmwood Golf Course, a sporting clay tournament at Hunters Pointe Shooting Complex, and a social and awards dinner at Elmwood.
